Empowering Independence Through Inclusive Content
“This is exactly what content marketing should be – a sustained content ecosystem that genuinely serves the audience’s needs rather than just pushing a sales message - The originality of this work comes from how it redefines inclusive communication, using technology, storytelling, and empathy as tools for transformation.”
Project: Motability Lifestyle Content Ecosystem
Brief
The Motability Scheme plays a vital role in supporting mobility and independence for disabled people and their families across the UK. The primary challenge was to deliver a communications program that informed and inspired a large, diverse audience while addressing specific needs and vulnerabilities. A major focus involved guiding users through significant industry shifts, such as the transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs).
Solution
An Audience-First Ecosystem
Wonderly developed a multi-channel content strategy rooted in empathy and accessibility.
Lifestyle Magazine: The cornerstone of the strategy remains a quarterly print title providing unique accessibility vehicle reviews and inspiring community stories.
Digital Transformation: We launched a dedicated digital home for the brand, designed to be a seamless, intuitive extension of the print magazine. The site is built with assistive technologies in mind, ensuring content is accessible via screen readers.
Accessible Audio & Video: To reach audiences in their preferred formats, we introduced The Motability Lifestyle Pod. This pioneering podcast includes British Sign Language (BSL) and captions on video versions, alongside full transcripts.
Social Community: We cultivated engaged communities on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, using captioned original video content to connect with a broader demographic.
Results
The evolved strategy successfully bridged the gap between quarterly print cycles, creating an "always-on" dialogue with the community. The website established itself as a vital resource for a fresh audience, while the podcast and social channels received acclaim for their commitment to inclusive broadcasting. By prioritizing accessibility, the program has fostered deep loyalty and provided a platform where users feel truly represented.
Users are not just visiting; they are staying and exploring. The average session duration is an impressive 6.5 minutes, and users visit an average of 5.51 pages per session. This indicates that the content is compelling and the site architecture is intuitive, encouraging discovery.
We have built an organic Instagram following of 3,000 users and achieved over 49,000 views on TikTok, demonstrating our ability to engage on newer platforms.
Audience and Industry Feedback:
The qualitative feedback matches the data. One reader told us, “I’ve found so many things out that I’ve never known or thought about before…”. This is supported by industry leaders, with the founder of the British Podcast Awards noting, “Being the first to provide a regular, signed podcast is a real point of difference”.
