Dan Davey, founder and CEO of Progressive Content, is appointed Chairman of the Content Marketing Association (CMA)

Dan Davey has been named the new chairman of the Content Marketing Association. Dan has been a member of the CMA’s management team for the past five years and replaces Co-founder and Publisher at TCO London, Vince Medeiros. Vince, who has been chairman for the past four years, oversaw unprecedented membership growth, and helped to carry the CMA through the pandemic.

Vince said: “I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with our Managing Director, Rob John, and the wider management team, and it’s such a pleasure to hand things over to Dan. The demand for content marketing shows no sign of stopping, and Dan is the perfect leader to take the CMA to new heights.”

Progressive Content, founded by Davey in 2010, was bought by GlobalData plc in early 2020, and now forms part of its core marketing and technology solutions offer within the GlobalData Media division. Multi-award winning and one of the fastest growing B2B content marketing agencies based in the UK, Progressive has helped brands such as NatWest Group, EY, ICAEW, Barclays and Grant Thornton International drive forward their customer engagement and interaction strategies, through its intelligent content and innovative technologies approach. Previously CEO of Progressive Content, Davey is now Managing Director, M&A at GlobalData.

Davey said: “Everyone has seen huge change as a result of events over the last two years, and those working in marketing, and especially content, are no different. How the CMA reacted and evolved its services and offering, and helped its members face these new challenges, is hugely impressive and Vince played a key role in supporting Rob and the CMA team in what they achieved. I clearly have big shoes to fill and look forward to continuing the good work with Rob, his team and the advisory management team.

“We’ve all seen content playing an increasingly central role within marketing strategies, in more geographies and markets around the world than ever before. And, with the new ways of working we see how that content is created, distributed, and measured, no one can doubt its increasing effectiveness and impact in connecting businesses, customers, and staff.

Cedar Communications CEO and member of the CMA management team, Clare Broadbent said, “I had the pleasure of working with Dan during his time at Cedar and saw first-hand his extensive experience across all market sectors and an abundance of energy and ideas. As the industry continues to innovate at great speed these skills will be incredibly useful in his new role as Chairman. I look forward to working with him.”

Managing Director of the CMA, Rob John, added, “I’d like to thank Vince for his guidance and support throughout my time at the CMA, and I know members of our community would echo this. We’ve seen an incredible growth over the last two years, with new memberships coming from across the world. This was also displayed at our recent International Content Marketing Awards which saw entries from over 25 countries, and represented each continent. Dan has a wealth of industry knowledge and has advised the CMA for some time, so I’m incredibly excited to work more closely with him and continue Vince’s great work.”
