New management structure at C3: Adel Gelbert hired as new CEO
Europe’s leading content marketing provider C3, parent company of SevenC3, will get a Chief Executive Officer for the first time, with Adel Gelbert leading the international agency network as of 1 September.
C3 has appointed a new group CEO, Adel Gelbert, as part of a new management structure. Gelbert has been a partner at the strategic marketing and communication consultancy fischerAppelt for five years. Prior to this, the MBA was a partner and managing director of the BBDO subsidiary Batten & Company, a consultancy specialising in marketing and sales, for 12 years.
Working alongside him, Chief Digital Officer Blundstone Osterberger will be responsible for the creative and digital sectors, and Gregor Vogelsang will continue to head all international activities and drive the further internationalisation of C3. The two founders, Lukas Kircher and Rainer Burkhardt, remain long-term shareholders of the C3 group and will assume the role of Chairmen of the Supervisory Board.
C3 was formed from a merger between Kircher, Burkhardt and Burda Creative Group in 2014. In January 2016, C3 acquired UK content marketing agency Seven, creating the largest content marketing specialist in Europe. In November 2016, the Global Content Marketing Network (GCMN) was created, uniting two of the world’s biggest experts in the field: C3 and US giant Meredith Xcelerated Marketing (MXM). The first international partnership of its kind, GCMN was established in response to big brands seeking a single strategic partner for content marketing solutions at global scale and reach.
Rainer Burkhardt, founder of C3, says of the appointment: “Adel Gelbert is a well-known top-level management consultant expert and we are very pleased that he will join the C3 leadership. He brings a lot of experience in brand management and brand strategy to the table. Considering that company strategy and brand strategy are growing closer together and business consultants are entering the fields of Big Data and digital marketing, this will give the further development of our agency a key advantage.”
Sean King, CEO of SevenC3, says: “The appointment of a new group CEO is great news and Adel Gelbert will be an important asset as we move forward in terms of international expansion, growing global clients and maximising the potential of the network.”
Further staff announcements include the appointment of Andre Furstenberg as new Chief Financial Officer of SevenC3, replacing Tom Krailing. Furstenberg has previously worked for WWP-owned The Futures Company, where he was involved in helping to drive commercial revenues and profitability across the agency.
Gareth Thomas will also be joining SevenC3 as a new Client Partner later this month. He will take over the management of the consumer portfolio of clients, including Vitality, Hertz and Lloyds Pharmacy, among others. Thomas was previously working at iProspect, where he managed a wide range of accounts, including Burberry and other global brands.
