Doing downward dog with Goldie

July 11th, 2017

Of all the people I ever thought I’d be hanging out with, Goldie (musician, artist, urban culturist, MBE) wasn’t top of my list. If the who was surprising, the where and the what was even more so: doing the downward dog on a sunset-lit beach in Kamala, Western Phuket.

But there we were. Goldie’s new album – The Journey Man – was released this month, which seemed like a good time to meet him in his adopted home of Phuket for Cathay Pacific’s Discovery.

Alongside photographer Jason Michael Lang and videographer Shaz Hussein from Singapore-based production company Studio Rarekind, we trailed the energetic musician through his home, flicking through his artworks and discussing music. The footage was then transformed into a snappy five-minute film, A Day With Goldie in Phuket, which featured three tracks from Goldie’s new album.

The feature was published in the June issue of Cathay Pacific’s Discovery, and the video featured on the all-new Discovery website. A version was also recreated for the inflight entertainment system on all Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon flights and can be found on the Explore Channel on the interactive menu over the next three months.

Crucially, it’s the first time Cedar Hong Kong has filmed a video for passengers to watch onboard, sychronising the reader journey across magazine editorial, digital multimedia content and the inflight experience.

We’re hoping to make the A Day With… concept a regular one, so watch out for future celebrity interviews!
