The CMA is the industry body representing content marketing in the UK. We promote all aspects of content marketing and act on behalf of our member companies, who produce online, offline and digital content for some of the world’s leading brands. We also use our experience and expertise to advise companies wishing to enter the world of content marketing, an industry that’s now worth more than £5bn. 

The Role

The Account Manager plays a key role at the CMA. You will be responsible for managing the CMA membership base and acquiring new members. The principle responsibility will be to ensure that the CMA is delivering value to our members by driving awareness of their business across the entire marketing mix.  You will also need to ensure that our members are aware of all of member benefits and manage their enquiries and activities.  This role is a critical appointment in strengthening our position in the industry and enabling the business to become a client facing organisation.

The Account Manager must have proven experience of working with multiple stakeholders (accounts), ideally within the B2B sector and working within the content arena.  You will need the ability to liaise across different levels of industry from marketing assistants to CEO’s. A generalist marketing knowledge is essential with strong relationship/sales being an advantage.

Principle responsibilities

Strategic account planning:

  • Create and manage member 12 month account management plan
  • Forming strategic partnerships with multiple stakeholders
  • Creating strong internal and external relationships
  • Understand member business objectives and form strategic plans which support them
  • Develop a pipeline for Membership acquisition, identify new leads, manage the new sign up process.

Day-to-day account management:

  • Content planning with members, the CMA Marketing Manager & CMA Content Consultant
  • Liaising with members to securing up take of all CMA Events, notably the annual awards, digital breakfast, future content sessions and our training courses.
  • Establish strong working face-to-face relationships with agency contacts 

Skill requirements

  • Proven Account Management experience
  • Good verbal and written English language skills
  • Experience in the content/agency/digital sector
  • Comfortable with business analytics and research
  • Be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial skill-set
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and lead through others
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Process orientated and organised
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent organisation skills, able to multi-task 

Lines of reporting and liaison

  • Reporting into Managing Director
  • Working as part of a small team with multiple external stakeholders
  • Close liaison internally with the Marketing Manager, the Commercial Director and Account Manager
